President & CEO

Carlos Martinez

Carlos Martinez serves as President and CEO of the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program, Inc. (NVOP). Mr. Martinez has been associated with the organization since its founding in 1972, and has been its Chief Executive Officer since 1974. Under his leadership, the organization has uniquely blended social service needs with sound business practices, and the organization has prospered from a single service office to a multi-corporate structure encompassing six separate sub-corporations and nationally recognized programs for veterans and their families. The American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program serves thousands of veterans every year through a variety of evolving and innovative operations, including housing for the elderly through its three housing complexes and the creation of jobs for disabled individuals through its wholly-owned Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS) Box Manufacturing Plant and Disabled Veterans Work Center. Under Carlos' leadership, NVOP has steadfastly remained loyal to its veteran constituency, and the organization continues to improve services to help veterans make a successful transition from combat to civilian life.

Mr. Martinez also participates in various organizations as a volunteer, including serving on the Board of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) and as a member of the Advisory Council for the Military Service Initiative (MSI) of the President George Bush Institute. He has also served as a Member of the VA’s Advisory Board on Homeless Veterans, the U.S. DOL’s Veterans Employment and Training Advisory Committee, the Department of Treasury Congressionally Chartered Advisory Board, and the State of Texas’ Blue Ribbon Advisory Board on state-owned Veterans Nursing Homes.
