Our Mission

  • Our mission is to make it as easy as possible for veterans and their families to navigate and access services and resources in our community.

  • We tackle some of the most complex inequities in our community and our team works tirelessly to restore dignity in veterans who seek comfort, support, and assistance in moving from homelessness to a sustainable future.

  • For 46 years, the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) has worked tirelessly to provide veterans, their families, and other needy populations with the services to achieve sustainable housing and meaningful careers.

  • From the beginning, NVOP has accomplished its mission by advocating for improved care and services for veterans of the Vietnam era, and it has evolved over the past four decades to be at the forefront of services for post-9/11 veterans and other service members who are transitioning to civilian life.

  • NVOP serves, at minimum, 1,000 individuals every year through a variety of innovative operations, including housing services for homeless veterans and their families, job assistance for veterans with barriers to employment, and a newer operation for both veterans and non-veterans who need assistance with reintegrating into the workforce.

  • NVOP has remained loyal to the veteran community, and the organization continues to improve services to help veterans make a successful transition from military to civilian life.

What can you do to help?

  • Volunteer. Learn how you can get involved on a monthly basis at our Veteran Service Centers and other service programs
  • Donate. Make a donation and learn how you can help us meet a growing need for hygiene, food, and other lifesaving care
  • Communicate. Share information with veterans, veteran families, and military members about the services available at the American GI Forum. Preventing homelessness starts with spreading the word about resources in your area
