Big Give 2018: Billy’s Story

Billy is a disabled U.S. Army veteran who was forced to move from his apartment complex due to severe damage from fires at the building. Having nowhere to go after the destruction, Billy became homeless and ended up living at Haven for Hope in the outdoor courtyard area. After a short time staying at the Haven campus, Billy met Seth, an outreach specialist working for the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP). Seth immediately helped Billy connect to a case manager at the NVOP where he received the support he needed to quickly move into a new home. “I am so happy to be off the streets and in a nice, new apartment,” said Billy. “The only things I was missing during my move were the pots, pans, dishes, coffeemaker, and glasses -- all of the items I couldn’t take with me after the fire.”

We need you to tell your friends and family about stories like Billy’s and ask them this: will you help NVOP raise $10,000 for our Veterans Care Closet by giving $10, $20, $50, or $100 to NVOP on March 22?

We cannot get to $10,000 without you. Give this Thursday, March 22 and help us give heroes like Billy the homes they deserve!

Give here on 3/22:

Thank you for your support!
