NVOP to Host 20th Annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans

San Antonio, Texas – On Friday, November 3, the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) will host its 20th Annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans in the parking lot of NVOP’s headquarters located at 611 N. Flores. The Stand Down is a one day event that provides homeless veterans and individuals with coffee and pastries, refreshments all day, a hot barbeque meal at noon, and an array of services including flu shots, mental health services, free haircuts, clothing for men and women, housing assistance, employment support, and many giveaways from community projects and private sector companies. Additionally, the Stand Down provides counseling representatives for legal, medical, and mainstream social services.

“I am proud that NVOP has hosted this event in San Antonio for the past 20 years,” said Carlos Martinez, NVOP President and CEO. “The Stand Down is one of NVOP’s many programs to reach out and serve homeless veterans in our community, and I am so thankful to all of our community partners who come together on this day to give back to the men and women who served and sacrificed for our nation.”
