San Antonio, Texas – On Friday, November 2, the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) will host its 21st Annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans in the parking lot of NVOP’s Veterans Service Center located at 611 N. Flores. The Stand Down is a one day event that provides more than 500 homeless veterans and individuals with coffee and pastries, refreshments all day, a hot barbeque meal at noon, and an array of services including flu shots, mental health services, free haircuts, clothing for men and women, housing assistance, employment support, and giveaways from more than 50 community partner agencies in attendance. Additionally, the Stand Down will also be part of the city of San Antonio’s Tricentennial celebration as an official SA 300 event.

“I am proud that NVOP has hosted this event in San Antonio for the past 21 years,” said Carlos Martinez, NVOP President and CEO. “The Stand Down is one of NVOP’s many programs to reach out and serve homeless veterans in our community, and I am so thankful to all of our community partners who come together on this day to give back to the men and women who served and sacrificed for our nation.”
