Veterans Service CenterStartsH1

The flagship of the organization is the Veterans Service Center (VSC) located in San Antonio where a “continuum of care” is available to veterans in need. The center is a one-stop center where a comprehensive service plan can be personalized for each applicant using the several assistance programs available at the VSC including the following:

Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP)

A job training program targeting homeless veterans that lack marketable job skills, those that may need some training assistance to make “old” job skills competitive, or those that may need basic educational upgrade to help them enter the job market. This program is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Basic Skills Upgrade

This computer-based training allows for individualized and self-paced training of NVOP clients interested or needing to refresh or improve their basic educational skill levels. The program specifically ties the training modules to the expected needs of the selected field of employment interest, thus a carpenter candidate would receive reading modules describing work orders and math refreshers on linear measurements, decimals, conversions and other related education.

Eligibility for the Basic Skills Upgrade program is open to all NVOP clients enrolled in other service programs, and that would benefit from this computer based learning laboratory.

Clothing Closet

A limited selection of donated clothing for men and women that is available for clients of the NVOP. The Clothing Closet usually carries shirts, pants, dresses, suits for men and women, shoes, coats and jackets, and some accessories such as belts, ties, scarves, and other donations.
