Supportive Services for Veterans Families Program (SSVF)
This program is designed to help homeless veterans with families quickly exit homelessness, return to housing in the community, and avoid homelessness again in the near term. The core components of the SSVF program are housing identification, financial assistance with move-in and rental expenses, and rapid re-housing case management and services. Eligible clients include:
- Veteran families currently staying in their cars, parks, abandoned buildings, airports, camping grounds, etc.
- Veteran families currently staying in a shelter, transitional housing, hotel, or motel.
- Veteran families who are currently homeless, but scheduled to move into permanent housing within 90 days
Under the program, participants receive client-centered case management, individualized housing stability counseling, assistance with obtaining public benefits, referrals to community agencies, and other support services as needed.
This program currently serves veterans in San Antonio and El Paso. Beginning in October 2019, SSVF services will also be provided in Dallas, Texas and surrounding counties. For more information, contact the office sites below:
