Employment Programs

The AGIF National Veterans Outreach Program provides  several different programs for employment assistance to serve Veterans and Civilians. Current programs include the following:

Texas Veterans Outreach Program (TVOP)

A program funded by the State of Texas and administered by the NVOP focusing on providing employment assistance (resume writing, job search/referrals, providing work-related items, and/or training) to veterans with special challenges to employment, including: veterans recently discharged from military service (within 48 months of application) that often times find difficulty in reintegrating into society and the job market; disabled veterans with either physical or mental disorders that may need that special advocacy from the NVOP case managers in selling their ability to employers; homeless veterans that usually need support services to stabilize their lives before entering the job search; and veterans with barriers to employment such as those that have history of substance abuse or veterans that have ex-offender status. This program offers services in San Antonio, Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth and El Paso, Texas.

Texas Workforce Commission Program (TWCP)

The TWCP program, funded by the Texas Workforce Commission, offers homeless and unemployed non-veterans and Veterans the life skills training, employment readiness training, résumé workshops, and education upgrade training needed to move off of public benefits and into regular employment. Through the program, NVOP has placed hundreds of individuals into jobs in industries such as security, hospitality, retail, and construction. This program offers services in San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and El Paso.

Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS)

This self-sustaining program was specifically established to create job opportunities for disabled veterans and other individuals with disabilities. Employees benefit from the stability offered by this supportive setting (either for long-term employment or as a transitional setting as they prepare to enter competitive employment) and take great pride in contributing to the programming offered by NVOP to Veterans and Civilians in need in five Texas cities: Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. VETS operates two work centers: the VETS Box Manufacturing Company and the VETS Warehouse & Kitting Work Center.  As with all NVOP programming, it is the goal to help VETS employees realize their full work potential and many unique supports are in place to maximize the likelihood of that happening (extensive training; support to develop a work plan specific to the employee’s talents, skills, and learning style; access to NVOP programing; collaborations with Case Managers; assistance with daily life skills/needs; opportunities for advancement; and a positive work setting).

NOTE: Once the pandemic has subsided, we hope to resume hosting of monthly job fairs for veterans and civilians in all five of the Texas cities that we serve: Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, and Houston, and San Antonio.
