EMPLOYMENT SERVICES FOR VETERANS
Veterans served include recently discharged veterans, veterans with a physical or psychological disability that creates a barrier to employment, homeless veterans, and veterans that are ex-offenders now trying to regain a role in society.
Employment services provided to qualified Veterans may include:
- Skills Assessment
- Resume Writing
- Help Completing Job Applications
- Job Search Assistance
- Job Development Services
- Job Fairs/Hiring Events
- Access to Online Services (computer labs where available and/or Case Manager assistance with setting up an email account, sending/receiving emails, online applications, uploading documents)
- Assistance Accessing Training (registration, funds to pay for classes/certifications)
- Purchase of Work-Related Items (uniforms, tools, safety gear, bus passes, etc)
HOUSING FOR VETERANS
Transitional Housing for Veterans
SAN ANTONIO—NVOP’s Residential Center for Homeless Veterans is an 80-bed facility dedicated to the needs of America’s warriors who have been living on the streets. Services at the RCV include case management, employment assistance, housing assistance, counseling groups, substance abuse treatment, on-site gym, three meals daily, on-site computer labs, and shuttle services to appointments and job interviews (available by appointment).
Permanent Housing for Veterans
Permanent housing assistance (housing search, payment of deposit/fees/rent, support services) is offered to Veterans via our Support Services for Veteran Families and Rapid Rehousing programs. Supportive services may also be provided to include bus passes, beds, household goods, and assistance with urgent needs.
Mental Health Services for Veterans
SAN ANTONIO—At no cost to them, counseling is provided to Veterans by licensed mental health counselors via our on-site mental health clinic in San Antonio. Services are provided to Veterans and their family members living in Atascosa, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Medina, and Wilson counties. Appointments are flexible with sessions available after hours and on weekends.
CIVILIAN EMPLOYMENT
Employment services provided to homeless Civilians include:
